Hello!
I grew up in Missouri, where I spent my childhood listening to my grandmother and mother tell stories while spinning tales of my own to share with my twin sister and other family members. As a child, I loved books like Strega Nona, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, and Charlotte’s Web. Currently, some of my favorites are Mabel and the Mountain by Kim Hillyard, Catching a Story Fish by Janice Harrington, and Song for a Whale by Lynne Kelly in children’s literature and West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge in adult novels. All of these books are soaked in beautiful, rich language. Besides reading and drawing, I love to be outside.
I’ve had a long carreer in education as a Reading Specialist, Special Education Teacher, and English Language Arts Teacher specializing in working with students who are English Language Learners while wearing all of these hats. I’ve even had the privilege of spending one year as a Library Assistant. Teaching children of any age to read, write, and to embrace their love of literature is an honor and a passion for me.
I believe every book has a soul and a bunch of little soul mates out there waiting to read it. I have spent many years on carpets, in classrooms, and in libraries helping children discover their connection to books.
I live in both Missouri and Alabama with my family and my two dogs.
Thank you for visiting!

Quote from one of my stories:
“Louisa Mae, one thing is for certain, you can listen to people without really hearin em. Smart chicks know that if you listen with big ears, you can hear what people are sayin, and if you listen with wide eyes, you’ll hear what they’re thinkin. Either way, the best thing you can be is a good listener. You’ve got a lot to stew over, so I’m gonna turn the lights off for you on my way out. You’re already in the dark anyway.”
